THE MTA 5-PHASE GROWTH SYSTEM
A progression pathway that grows with youth from ages 5–18.
Moore Than Athletics (MTA) uses a clear development pathway to help youth grow year after year—without repeating the same cycle. Every phase builds on the last and connects to our programs, Journal + Rewards system, and leadership progression.
WHAT IS THE 5-PHASE GROWTH SYSTEM?
The MTA 5-Phase Growth System is our signature youth development framework for ages 5–18. It provides structure, accountability, and measurable progress across every MTA program—athletics, leadership, life skills, mentorship, and resilience skills.
Instead of random activities, youth follow a pathway that develops:
- identity and confidence
- leadership habits and decision-making
- life readiness and academic support skills
- movement, wellness, and discipline
- service, purpose, and community impact
THE 5 PHASES

Phase 2 — Leadership Development
Teach youth how to lead themselves and influence others positively.

Phase 5 — Community & Impact

- mentorship habits and role modeling
- project planning and teamwork
What we track: - service hours and outreach participation

HOW YOUTH TRACK GROWTH
Every phase is reinforced through the MTA Journal + Rewards Portfolio, which helps youth:
- reflect weekly
- set goals and track habits
- earn badges and recognition
- document leadership milestones
- build a record of growth over time
HOW YOUTH CONTINUE PROGRESSING OVER TIME
Youth do not restart the system the same way each year. As they mature, expectations increase and leadership responsibilities expand.
Youth progress into:
- advanced phases with deeper skill application
- mentor support opportunities
- leadership portfolio milestones
- structured service roles
AFTER THE 5 PHASES, YOUTH ADVANCE
Youth who complete the phases can move into the Advanced Leadership Pathway:
- Peer Leader
- Junior Mentor
- Mentor-in-Training
- Youth Leadership Council
This creates a leadership pipeline that keeps youth engaged and builds leadership from within.

Whether your child is just beginning or ready to level up, MTA provides a structured system that builds leaders over time.
